Maleija began as a dream in 2020. At the time, it was simply an idea I hoped to bring to life one day. I knew I wanted to create something of my own, something meaningful that reflected who I am and what I love. But turning that idea into reality felt daunting, and for a long time, I wasn't quite brave enough to take the first step. Still, the dream stayed with me, and over the years, I found myself coming back to it.
Growing up on an island, the ocean has always been a part of my life. As a diving instructor, I spend much of my time in and around the water, and island life has become a part of who I am. Bikinis have always been my daily uniform, whether I'm diving, exploring a new island, or simply enjoying a day by the sea. I wanted to create something that reflected the lifestyle I love and share a little piece of it with others. And that's how Maleija began.
For me, Maleija is about more than just swimwear. It's about creating pieces that feel personal, effortless, and made for life's different moments. I believe your bikini should fit you, not the other way around. Every body is different, and you should never feel the need to change yourself to fit into something. That's why our pieces are made to your measurements, with comfort, and individuality.
Custom to you. Made for YOU.
Every piece begins with an original design and is made locally in the Philippines by a small team. Knowing that real people put their time and skill into bringing my designs to life is something I really value.
I've chosen to keep production small and make each piece made to order. It means being more thoughtful about what we create, avoiding unnecessary excess, and giving every bikini the care it deserves. I'm still learning and growing along the way, but I want to build Maleija in a way that feels right to me and stays true to why I started it in the first place.
Maleija has been a dream of mine for so long, and sometimes it still feels a little unreal that I'm finally bringing it to life. There's so much I dream of doing with it, so many ideas I want to create, and so much love I want to put into everything I design and make. I know I'm only at the beginning, but it means the world to me to finally be here.
And if you're reading this, and choosing to support something I've poured so much of myself into, thank you. Truly. You're becoming part of a dream I've held onto for years, and I don't think I'll ever take that for granted.
With love, Lara
